About
Who we are
The IWA Water Loss Specialist Group (WLSG) is one of the International Water Association’s most active specialist groups. Established in 2002 at the Water Loss Management conference in Cyprus, we bring together practitioners, researchers, and regulators to share knowledge and drive improvements in water loss management globally.
We are a fully volunteer-led network. Everyone who contributes does so out of genuine passion for sustainable water management. Membership is open to all IWA members.
Our mission — from the WLSG Constitution
We research and advance water loss reduction for the benefit of governance bodies, utilities, practitioners, companies, communities, and government agencies at all levels, and work to reduce water losses globally and future water demand through advocacy, capacity building, technology transfer, and impartial, standardised frameworks and benchmarks. We ensure meaningful representation of Low and Middle-Income Countries, and engagement with these regions in its governance, working plan, and activities.
